  1. Exceptional Children's Family Program

    Bringing art therapy to the families of children with exceptional needs! The Art Therapy Institute has been working in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro City Schools with the Exceptional Children's Program for the past ten years. We would like to expand our work to support the families of our EC students as well. We are happy to announce three summer art therapy groups in June and July that are geared towards supporting the families of EC students! Parent Group: Open to parents or caregivers of EC students Focusing on self-care, relaxation, and mindfulness techniques Sibling Group: Open to siblings of EC students Focusing on stress relief, self-esteem, and sense of identity Family Group: Open to EC students and their family members Open studio format where families get to use materials of their choice and make art together Focusing on positive communication, collaboration, and creating moments of connection and play

  2. Jam Session Series: Line Dance

    Open Mic Night returns to Johnny's, Carrboro's official 'un-official' living room!! The last Sunday of each month, we set aside a couple hours to showcase all of y'all's talents! Poetry, music, monologues, orations, comedy, literature; whatever you want to show, you can (provided it's family friendly, of course)!! Come cozy up with a mug of something warm and ready to be wowed! Sign-up begins at 4:30pm in the shop: first come, first serve! There will be seven 7-10 minute slots, and you must bring any equipment you need (minus the mic, of course!).     July 23, 2018 7pm -9pm inside The Century Center at 100 North Greensboro Street. We will focus on experiential aspirations, broad programmatic goals and services. By organizing activities around small group exercises, we hope to promote dialogue and consensus at a small group scale that then reports findings out to the larger workshop group.
