Tema Okun

Tema OkunTema Okun has slowly but surely come to poetry in the third stage of her life. She grew up in Chapel Hill, lives now in Durham, and has been a teacher and student of racial in/justice for over 30 years. She is stepping back from the familiar ways that she has known to show up and is grateful to have the opportunity the West End Poetry Festival provides to reflect on what she knows and what she might bring to the task of building authentic democracy as an elder.
