Michael Gaspeny’s chapbook, Vocation, is available from Main Street Rag Publishing Company. He won the 2012 Randall Jarrell Poetry Contest and the 1998 O. Henry Short Story competition. His work has appeared in Brilliant Corners: A Journal of Jazz and Literature, Cave Wall, Kentucky Review, and Crucible. He taught writing for 36 years, mainly at Bennett College and High Point University, where he received the distinguished teaching award. A former sportswriter, he holds an MFA in fiction from the University of Arkansas. A hospice volunteer for thirteen years, he has received the North Carolina Governor’s Award for Volunteer Excellence.
